The Monks Mound is thought to be the location of the ruling chief of the village. It took 30 years to build by hand, hauling basket of earth from pits nearby. The height is about 90 feet and covers about 14 acres. It is not the only mound in the area but the biggest. The whole area covers thousands of acres and is an important archeological dig.
