As we were driving away from St. Louis on I-55 and I-70, an exit sign announce the Cahokia Historic Park and we quickly turned off to see what was there. Larry had read the book '1491' about the settlements of native peoples in the Americas. One of the important villages was Cahokia a center for the Mississippi population of natives. Mounds were the main remnants of the civilization. This is the biggest mound called the Monks Mound. We stopped and visited the interpretation center and were glad that we had. The next image is of a model of the Monks Mound.
