The outlet of the dam holding back the waters of the lake at Salt Plain Oklahoma
New Mexico to Nova Scotia

This dam is on the Salt Fork of the Arkansas River. This is the fourth major river we crossed on our way east. The last three, Canadian, Cimarron, and Arkansas all flow together near the eastern border of Oklahoma to become the Arkansas that flows into the Mississippi east of Little Rock. The shores of the Great Salt Plain Lake were know to us as a great place to watch birds. We usually stopped on the north side every year we went by. This is the first year we discovered the dam structure and recreational area (which seemed very popular with Oklahomans).
