Sometimes the last few weeks of the visit in New Mexico has a blossoming of flowers and a return of some of the summer birds. One bird we looked for was the Black-chinned Hummingbird but alas we saw none this year. They usually perch on the leaves of the Yucca such as the tall one in this picture. Another thing we enjoy at the end of our visit is the Yucca flowers but they were just starting and only one cactus was in bloom. None of the other desert flowers were present except a few Verbena.
