Alamo Canyon Hike
Nova Scotia to New Mexico

The Sacramento Mountains are cut with many canyons. One of the easiest to get to is Alamo Canyon right in Alamogordo. There is a trail into it that follows the bottom of the canyon and will eventually take a hiker to the head of the canyon and up to the heights of the mountain. We like to hike in a several kilometres and look for birds. On this day there was still snow in the places where the shadows covered the canyon bottom. Here Alison shows she can make a snowball. During this hike we enjoyed good views of Rock Wrens and Canyon Towhees but few other birds.
