Donald L. Armer, 71, died at 4:45 p.m. May 19, 2010, at Lima Memorial Health System.
He was born July 4, 1938, in St. Johns to Benjamin and Phyllis Geirhart Armer, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 31, 1980, he married Betty Joan Armer, who died Sept. 24, 2002.
Mr. Armer had worked as a machinist with Ohio Steel and Clark Equipment Co., and he then retired as a truck driver from Trinity Industry. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who appreciated the outdoors. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2654, Wapakoneta, and was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie in Wapakoneta. He treasured his little dog Maggie. He was a renowned chef with his family. He had also served in the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his life companion, Patricia "Pat" Boday, of Lima; a son, Steven Michael Armer, of Missouri; two daughters, Denise (Chris) Burden, of Florida, and Robin (Craig) Niles, of Shawnee; 10 stepchildren, John (Holly) Beer, of Colorado, Kevin Beer, of Powell, Mark (Joanna) Beer, of Texas, David (Debbie) Beer, of Texas, Scott Beer, of Colorado, Cindy (John) Sloan, of Texas, Julie (Stan) Kirkendall, of Oklahoma, Karen (Moose) Robertson, of Colorado, Jim (Deb) Boday, of Waynesfield, and Mark (Kathy) Boday, of Kenton; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many stepgrandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin Armer Jr., of Cridersville, and David (Marilyn) Armer, of Wapakoneta; and a sister, Libby Eichman, of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandy Buggle Kinkle, who died in 2002; a brother, George Armer; and two sisters, Charlotte Spees and Jean Campbell.
