Obituary for Terry L. Snyder
Terry Lee Snyder, 69, of New Winchester died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at OSU Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus after years of heart-related illness.
He was born April 2, 1949 in Galion to the late Donald and Dolores (Reber) Snyder. Terry went to Col. Crawford High School where he was in FFA and on the swim team, graduating in 1967. He went on the trade school and owned and operated Snyder Electric with his father. He met Regina Smith after their mothers conspired to get them together and they were married May 4, 1975.
Terry asked Jesus Christ to be his Savior when he was 16 years old. He was well known in the area for his love of Southern Gospel music. He began singing solos in area churches and soon his girls joined him. When his daughter, Abby, died tragically in 2000 he also lost his dear friend and ministry partner and stopped his singing ministry. He was one of the first hosts on New Vision FM radio where listeners tuned in to hear him, and later he and Abby, on "The Sounds of Southern Gospel" until 2005 when his health no longer permitted his work there.
Terry was a kind, caring "people person." In other words, he loved to talk and made many friends in conversations at churches, on the job, over the air, and elsewhere. If he could help people in any way, he would, and he absolutely adored his daughters and granddaughters. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, and was a great handyman. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, sang with the Country Gentlemen Barbershop Chorus, and was PTO chair of the former Whetstone Christian School.
Terry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Regina; daughter, Holly (Ian) Cramer; granddaughters, Emma Gail, Lillian Mae, Isabella Rose, and Amelia Lee Cramer; sister, Barbara (Mark) Schneider; brother, Carl (Yvonne) Snyder; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Abigail Lee Snyder.
Terry's family will receive friend on Tuesday, October 9 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W Warren St, Bucyrus where his funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 am with Pastor Bill Strader officiating. Burial will follow in Whetstone Cemetery.
Donations can be made payable to Ian Cramer for Terry's granddaughters' 529 college savings and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Terry's Tribute Wall.
