Obituary | Crawford County Forum March 14, 1890 (Age 43 years)Note: Died - Saturday, Mrs Nancy Martgaret Volkmar, of pulmonary consumption. the deceased was the only daughter of George Washington Houp and was born the 3rd day of September 1846, in Chatfield township, Crawford County. she was a deaf mute, nevertheless she was the chief means of support of her aged parents. After the death of her parents, she married Christian Volkmar, which union was bleassed with one child, a bright little girl, now about ten years old. She arrive at the age of 44 years, 3 months and 7 days. Mrs. Volkmar as a good neighbor, loved by all who knew her. Being herself of a poor family she knew how to administer to the wants of the poor, always being ready to lend a helping hand. The funeral toopk place last Monday at the English Reformed church at Richville, Rev. Kesler of Lykens conducting the services. She was interrred in the Houp lot in the Lutheran cemetery beside her mother.
